  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Finely Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Spices – Dried Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, ground black pepper

How To Make Air Fryer Pasta Chips

Just cook the pasta, toss in the spices and oil, then air fry!

Step 1: Cook the pasta to al dente in a big pot of salted water then drain.

Step 2: While the pasta is cooking, preheat the air fryer by letting it run empty for a few minutes.

Step 3: Add the drained pasta to a large bowl with the remaining ingredients. Toss until the pasta is fully coated.

Step 4: Add the pasta to the air fryer in a single layer.

Step 5: Air fry for 5 minutes then flip the pasta and cook for about 3 minutes more until the pasta is crispy and light golden brown.

Step 6: Repeat with the rest of the pasta and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Recipe FAQs

Can pasta chips be made in the oven?

Pasta chips can be made in the oven instead of the air fryer. Bake the cooked pasta in a 425 degrees F oven for 20-25 minutes. The chips aren’t as crispy as the air fryer version but still delicious!

What pasta shape works best for pasta chips?

It’s best to use a short-cut pasta shape that has a large surface area so they’re easy to pick up and dip in marinara. Favorites to use are rigatoni, bowtie (farfalle), rotini, and ziti.

Are pasta chips hard like raw pasta?

Even though pasta chips look like raw pasta, the texture is very different! Since the pasta is cooked first before being air fried, they have a crispy and crunchy texture that is easy to bite into.

Storage

Although they’re best eaten after air frying, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to rewarm and crisp up again.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 pound pasta try bowties, rigatoni, or rotini
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.
  • Boil pasta according to package directions in salted water, then drain.
  • In a large boil, combine pasta, olive oil, parmesan cheese, italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt and black pepper. Toss until pasta is fully coated and seasoned.
  • Spread pasta into a single layer in the preheated air fryer.
  • Cook in the preheated air fryer for 5 minutes.
  • Use a large wooden spoon to flip the pasta and continue cooking for 3 additional minutes or until pasta is crispy and lightly golden brown.
  • Remove from the air fryer and serve with marinara or ranch for dipping.

Notes

You can adjust the quantity of any of the spices to suit your taste.
It is important the air fryer be preheated before adding the chips to the basket and that they are cooked in a single layer so the air can circulate all the pasta. 
Tossing halfway through cooking time ensures the pasta chips will be evenly brown.
Watch the pasta chips carefully at the end of cooking. One batch, I heard the timer but took an extra minute and it was amazing how quickly they went from golden brown to overdone. Be careful!
Would be great with marinara, ranch, whipped feta, french onion dip, spicy dip, and sriracha mayo dip.
