Recipe FAQs
Crescent Rolls are baked in a 375 degrees F oven until golden brown. The same oven temperature is used whether they are plain and unfilled or filled with toppings like this pizza roll recipe. If the crescent rolls have filling then you just add a couple minutes to the bake time.
Crescent dough is slightly different from pizza dough – mainly because it has a softer texture. But you can use crescent roll dough as a swap for pizza dough.
While both crescent rolls and croissants are baked goods with a crescent moon shape, they are different. The main difference is croissants are laminated with butter making them extra flaky and buttery while crescent rolls are softer and more similar to bread.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave or 375℉ oven or air fryer for about 10 minutes. They’re even delicious cold out of the fridge!
Expert Tips
- Other Pizza Toppings – You can easily use other favorite pizza toppings instead of pepperoni! Some other good options are finely crumbled and cooked sausage, small diced olives, peppers, and other cheeses. Just make sure you don’t overfill the crescent rolls so they can still be rolled up.
- Cheese Stick vs Shredded Cheese – I like to use shredded cheese so the melted cheese is distributed throughout the crescent roll, but you can also use a mozzarella cheese stick that is cut in half.
- Leave Space on the Baking Sheet – When adding the rolls to the baking sheet, make sure to leave some space in between each one so they have room to puff up as they bake.
