Blackberry Lemonade is a refreshing summer drink that celebrates the flavors or the season! This is the best recipe for lemonade, and it’s made with whole blackberries, pureed in a food processor or blender.
This is one of the most refreshing drinks for summer! This Homemade Blackberry Lemonade recipe holds its own next to other favorites like Homemade Hawaiian Punch and Homemade Limeade.
Why We Love This Recipe
Blackberry Lemonade is one of those staple drinks at my house this time of year. It’s tart, delicious, and so easy to make!
I can make 3 to 4 pitchers of lemonade with a few pounds of lemons that tastes so much better than a pre-made lemonade bottle. I mean really, who wouldn’t just make this Blackberry Lemonade themselves?
Sometimes I like to change things up and flavor our lemonade. My youngest adores strawberry lemonade, but his older brother and my husband aren’t strawberry fans. Luckily I have a bit of a blackberry obsession and created this pitcher of Blackberry Lemonade. The combination of blackberry and lemon is one of my all-time flavor pairings and this drink does not disappoint! Bonus: the color is totally gorgeous!!
Ingredients For Blackberry Lemonade
- Simple Syrup – sugar and water
- Blackberry Puree – fresh blackberries and sugar
- Lemonade – Lemon juice, Cold water, Thinly sliced lemons
How To Make Blackberry Lemonade
Simple Syrup: The best way to easily sweeten your lemonade is to make a simple syrup. The sugar is already dissolved and you can add more or less sweetness based on your taste preference. I usually keep a jar of simple syrup in the fridge for sweet tea and cocktails, so using it for lemonade was a no brainer.
- Pour the sugar and water into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium to medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is just dissolved.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool while you make the puree.
Blackberry Puree:
- Pulse a few cups blackberries and sugar in a food processor. Puree until the fruit is completely broken down.
- Push through a mesh sieve over a bowl to remove all the fruit pulse and seeds.
Lemonade:
- Stir together lemon juice, water, simple syrup, and blackberry mixture.
- Serve over ice or refrigerate until ready to serve.
Variations
- Blackberry Whiskey Lemonade: Make a few grown-up drinks by adding a little whiskey or vodka to the lemonade.
- Try different fruits: Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries could be pureed and added instead, or add a combination of fresh berries.
- Make lemonade popsicles! Pour the berry lemonade into popsicle forms and freeze. Fun, tasty and perfect for a hot day.
Storage
- Keep the lemonade in a tightly sealed container for up to 3-4 days.
- Freeze in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
- Always use fresh lemons and roll the lemon on the counter for 20 seconds before slicing; it will bring out all of the natural juice.
- Make sure to give your lemonade plenty of time to chill in the refrigerator for the best taste.
- To keep your drinks cold without watering them down, pour lemonade into ice cube trays.
- For a pretty presentation, garnish with fresh mint leaves.
