RECIPE WALK-THROUGH
Ingredient Notes
- Softened Cream Cheese – I recommend using full-fat block cream cheese, not the spreadable or light kind.
- Softened Butter – For the best texture, I recommend using regular butter, not margarine.
How To Make Cookie Dough Dip
See the recipe card below for full, detailed instructions
- Beat softened cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer to make the base of the dip extra light and fluffy.
- Beat in powdered sugar until combined.
- Beat in brown sugar, vanilla, and salt.
- Stir in mini chocolate chips.
- Chill, covered for 1 hour.
- Serve with graham crackers, nilla wafers, pretzels, fruit, or mini cookies.
Serving Suggestions
Garnish with a few mini chocolate chips and serve in a pretty bowl. Surround the cookie dough dip with hand-held dippables, like graham crackers, nilla wafers, jumbo marshmallows, pretzels, or fruit like strawberries.
Serve this Cookie Dough Dip with some savory handheld bites like Sausage Rolls, Air Fryer Chicken Wings, or Mac and Cheese Bites.
Variations
Pick your mix-ins! You don’t have to use chocolate chips for this recipe. Try using mini M&Ms, chopped walnuts, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or other festive mix-ins.
You can also use peanut butter in place of the butter to make it a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dip – yum!
Storage Tips
Storage and Make Ahead
Storage: Store, tightly covered, for up to 3 days in the fridge. Freezing is not recommended.
Make Ahead: You can make this dip up to 2 days in advance. The butter and cream cheese can be a little tricky as it can harden a bit in the fridge. Before serving, let it come to room temperature a bit for 15 minutes or so and give it a quick stir.
Recipe Tips
- Make sure the butter and cream cheese are softened before mixing. In a hurry? Check out my tips for softening butter quickly.
- I highly recommend using an electric mixer for this, but it’s not required. Beating with an electric mixer smooths the cream cheese/butter mixture while making it light and fluffy.
- You can easily double or triple this recipe when serving to a larger crowd.
