But this apple crisp recipe is not your average fruit dessert; it is made in individual serving sizes and can be done in the microwave! So whenever that apple crisp craving hits, you can make this easy dessert recipe in just minutes!
I have had fun coming up with new easy microwave mug cake recipes, but have been craving an apple version and knew I had to experiment a little until I found the perfect recipe. - Combine oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon then use a fork to mix in the softened butter.
- Layer apples and crisp topping in a mug and microwave for 3 minutes.

Helpful Tips
- Want to make this recipe in the oven? Layer in an oven-safe ramekin and bake in a 375℉ oven for 120-12 minutes.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon or brown sugar to your liking.
- For the crisp topping, the butter should be room temperature but not melted.
- For the apples, the butter should be melted.
- Make sure to use old-fashioned oats, not quick cooking.
- The best variety of apple for a microwave crisp is your favorite variety! Any type of apple will work for this recipe. I personally prefer more tart apples, like Honeycrisp.
Fall is the season of comfort food and apples, and that is one of my favorite combinations. This Mug Apple Crisp Recipe is the perfect end to any fall evening!

I made this and it was SO GOOD! Will make again. I pretty much followed the recipe but one thing I didn’t follow was the peeling of the apples part because i was to lazy (lol) Did send to a friend and she made it and loved it too! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome Anonymous! Thanks for sharing the love.
I’ve made this a few times now and I absolutely love it! Perfect, for when that craving for something sweet hits! Give it a try x x
Love the feedback Micki! Thanks for stopping by.
I just made this as a snack and it’s amazing! The only thing I want to warn you about if you make this is let. it. cool. I let it cool for a minute and still burned my mouth. Other than that this recipe is amazing, it tastes great
OUCH! Thank you for your feedback and thanks for stopping by.
I subbed almond flour for the flour and coconut oil for the butter and it was great! Only recommend using slightly less coconut oil if you choose to sub that, mine had a little too much. Overall very yummy and this will go in the quick dessert rotation for sure!
Nice! (Awesome feedback) Thank you so much for stopping by Julie.
I made 2x servings, baked it in a 350-degree oven for 50 minutes. It is delicious and very easy. I also tried it in the microwave and it was good, but the oven-baked was much better. I sent the recipe to my sister who lives alone.
Awesome feedback Joanne! Thank you so much for stopping by.
I made this today and it was so good. Usually, I would be skeptical because desserts are too sweet, and I am not a cinnamon lover, but this was quite perfect. Thanks!
You are so welcome Lena! Awesome feedback, thanks for stopping by.
Would love to make this for company. Do you think I can make the topping ahead of time?
You could mix up the topping without the butter ahead of time, then add the butter right before cooking them.
Very nice! I wasn’t real happy about dirtying more than one bowl, but it was worth it – lol. Next time I will double the recipe for me and my 10 year old. I ate it with vanilla bean ice cream and it was out of this world! Thank you for such a great recipe!
You are so welcome Christine! Thanks for stopping by.
Why thin sliced apples? Wouldn’t chunked or chopped apples work? (And maybe be easier to work with.)
Chopped apples would be too thick and wouldn’t cook in the short time in the microwave.
when i tell you this was DELICIOUS!!!!!! if only i had ice cream ?
Thank you Katie!
Best mug recipe for apple pie I ad walnuts. Delicious . Thank You.
Your are so welcome S. Painter! Thanks for stopping by.

If you want to double the recipe you should use two mugs.
I am collecting ‘mug’ cake and pudding recipes to use when travelling in our caravan. Thank you for this recipe – Jenni in Australia
That’s a great idea – good luck to you!
The point of a mug dessert is to not dirty up a bunch of extra dishes. Just smoosh it all together in the mug, it’s the flavor that counts!!!! Really love these mug desserts, it’s just me and my 13 yo so we don’t usually finish full size desserts
Yes you can definitely just do it that way, although you do want to mix the filling and topping separately. This is more of a way to avoid turning on your oven and just make a single serving.
This was such a quick and easy sweet treat!
I didn’t have any oats so I used more flour instead and it turned out so good. I’m going to recommend this to my friends.
Thank you Laura!
This recipe was wonderful!
