My Slow Cooker Baked Beans Recipe takes your old bbq standby side dish and adds a ton of flavor and texture. They are the perfect side dish for your BBQ!
56ouncescan VanCamp's Pork & Beans2 28-ounce cans or 1 3-pound can
3/4cupchopped onion
1/2cupbrown sugar
1/2cupbutter
1cupketchup
4slicesbacon
2teaspoonsLiquid Smoke
Instructions
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat. Using a slotted spoon, transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain as much grease as possible.
Wipe out most of the grease from the pan, leaving about a tablespoon. Cook diced onions in the bacon grease until softened; about 4 minutes.
Slow Cooker Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a 5-6 quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 1-2 hours on high or 3-4 hours on low.
Oven Baked Method:
Combine ingredients in an oven safe soup pot (you can use the same pot to cook the bacon and onions). Bake at 275 degrees F for 2-3 hours or 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
Notes
If you don't have time to cook the bacon and onions, it's ok to throw them in raw.
