Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese with electric mixer until smooth. This will help the dip be more creamy. Add remaining ingredients, mix on low to combine. Spread into the prepared baking dish or a medium-sized cast iron skillet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly. For browning, cook under the broiler for 3-5 minutes. Watch closely to avoid burning.
Serve immediately with chips, crackers or crostini.
Notes
Other cheeses you could use instead - White American, Monterey Jack or Mozzarella.This is a thick and creamy dip. For a thinner consistency, more like nacho cheese, use White American in place of the Fontina, and add a splash of milk when beating the cream cheese.
