The nights are getting cooler here in Southern California and it’s time to bring out the hot chocolate! This winter staple is a favorite of my kids and they love it when I create a little “bar” for them and let them add their own mix-ins. It’s become one of our favorite holiday traditions. This year I decided to create some printables to go with our hot chocolate bar, and I hope that you will love it as much as I do!
Self serve hot chocolate bars are so much fun for parties. They don’t have to be extravagant…just set up your hot milk or water, packets of mix and a few mix-ins. Include some adorable mugs like these enamel mugs. Using real mugs as opposed to styrofoam adds such charm to your hot chocolate bar.
Some of my favorite mix-ins include Hershey kisses, chocolate syrup, caramels or caramel sauce/syrup, sprinkles, whipped cream, marshmallows, candy canes or flavored creamers. Download my printables and tie the “Cup of Cheer” tags around your mugs for a little extra charm.
My kids love the little tag and being able to use their own mug. The enamel mugs are perfect because they are larger than kids mugs but not fragile like a ceramic mug.
If you really want to get fancy, you can also go all out and make your own hot chocolate from scratch, or maybe have a sampling. Here are a few pretty awesome looking recipes:
Pumpkin Spice Hot White Chocolate
Peppermint Mocha Hot Chocolate
Wouldn’t those be fun for a holiday party? I can’t wait to use them for the nest party we host!
If you would like the printables, you can download them using the link below. Please remember that the printables are for personal use only, and the design is not for resale in any way. Thank you!

I love the idea of a hot chocolate bar, but nothing happens when i click the “download” button for the printables.
Also, may i ask where you got the enameled mugs?
Hi Fan, Thank you for alerting me to the problem with the download. Please revisit the post and scroll down to the blue boxes towards the bottom. Click on them and it will open a pdf file that you can print or download. The enamel mugs came from West Elm but I purchased them about 8 years ago, so they no longer carry them.
Do you still have the printable for Valentines hot chocolate bar?
Would love for a baby shower but cannot find the link on the old post. Thank you!!
Yes here is the link: Hot Chocolate Bar for Valentine’s Day with Free Chalkboard Printables
Unfortunately the baby shower printables are no longer offered as that was a partnered promotion.
I just love your planners! Are you going to have a 2020 Christmas Planner?
Thank you! I’m not doing dated planners anymore, but I have one that you can use year after year. You can get a universal Christmas planner here: Christmas Planner (Free Printable Planner)
Hello. Just came across your beautiful cocoa bar. I cannot find the “cup of cheer” link… I’ve been up and down the page, my eyes are deceiving me lol can you kindly direct me? Thanks
There is a yellow bar towards the bottom of the post that says “download printable” but here is the link: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0BxkNv1Mgg0glMHVHMnhFT0lLeWc
Merry Christmas!
This is beautiful. Is there any way to just purchase the sign and another sign in the same font that says Hot Cider Bar? We’re doing both types of bars at the event. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry, I’m not offering custom services at this time.
Hi Kristin,
I know you posted this a few years ago, but I’m party planning for my little one and chanced upon your blog and fell in LOVE. what a generous and creative compilation of ideas! Absolutely love your aesthetic. I was wondering if you would mind sharing the name or source of fonts used in this set of chalkboard signs…unfortunately im not doing a “hot chocolate bar” but am doing other “bars” at my kids 1st birthday party, and fell in love with this font combo…only if you don’t mind sharing. I promise its only for personal use…to add that special touch to my kid’s special day. Would greatly appreciate it… (I saw your fave font combos page and didn’t see these there which is why im asking)…
I just love all of this so much! I am throwing a Cocoa and Cookies Christmas party for my girls this year and would LOVE to use the chalkboard “Hot Chocolate” printable but for some reason it won’t print 🙁 Is there any way you could email me the file so I could try to download and print it that way?
Thank you! Love your whole blog!!
Jenn

These photos are just GORGEOUS — and love the idea of a hot chocolate bar, so perfect for the chilly months! I’ve had such a fun time peeking at the contributions of fellow West Elm partnership participants — hope you’ll take a peek at mine as well!

Oh wow – I love this idea! Those look delicious!
Thanks!! It was a lot of fun to put together! 🙂
Such an adorable set up and the printables are to die for!
I’m a former teacher and I’ve been trying to bring themed treats to the staff at my daughter’s school once a month…now I know what December’s treat will be! I think I’ll buy a black tri-fold foam core board and mount a lightweight frame for the hot cocoa bar sign…school staff rooms are notoriously ugly and messy, so that will provide a nice little backdrop for the display! 🙂

P.S.–I also just sent you a comment asking about your chalkboard Christmas tree printable. 🙂
The printable is adorable! I had to hide my screen from the boys as I was reading because if they saw that yummy hot chocolate they would be begging for some right before bed 🙂 I love west elm as well, wish one was just a little closer. Hope you are having a great week.
XO
Kristin
I know what you mean! I had to send my kids to their rooms when I was taking the photos! Lol!
